Steve Lewsey, who endured sexual abuse as a child, has shared his story to offer hope to others and encourage them to speak up. The abuse, which began when he was 10 years old in the 1980s, was reported to Sussex Police in 2011. His abuser, Glenn Langrish, was recently sentenced to 15 years in prison for multiple child sex offenses.
Langrish and Lewsey had worked together at a repair shop in Crawley. After a 12-year international manhunt, Langrish was arrested in July 2023 and extradited to the UK from Poland. Despite the ordeal, Lewsey emphasized the importance of not letting abusers win and urged others to come forward. He expressed his satisfaction with finally achieving justice after 40 years and emphasized that he feels stronger and calmer now. In court, Lewsey directly addressed Langrish during his victim impact statement, refusing to let the abuser break him.
